Golden Ganesh Art
Brigitte Saugstad
What you see here is what comes out of my hands — clay, fire, gold, and thirty years of practice. Each piece is unique. Each one started as an idea I couldn’t let go of!

Materials
Everything is hand-modelled in my studio in the Vienna Woods — no moulds, no shortcuts.
I use European stoneware clays and glazes, fired up to three times. Where gold appears, it is 23-carat, applied by hand. Crystal stones are selected individually for each sculpture.
From Clay to Sculpture
Each sculpture develops slowly — built by hand, layer by layer, shaped by bodily memory and the unpredictability of fire.
I work with fine stoneware and coloured clays, fired up to three times. Selected works are finished with liquid bright gold, fused into the glaze in a third firing. Some incorporate crystal elements; others are created using the traditional Japanese Raku technique.
Ornament, for me, is not decoration. It is a language of rhythm, movement and trace.

About Me
Figure skating shaped my body, my memory and my artistic language. Today my fingers shape the moist and the soft, leaving dancing traces or perfectly smooth surfaces.
Working directly with clay allows me to give form to what already exists within the body: movement, rhythm, balance and transformation.
Colour, ornament and surface emerge through the interplay of earth, glaze, fire and intuition. Meditation has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my artistic journey: https://wemeditate.com/
